Why does The Omnipotent and Omniscient GOD give us freedom

So during discussion of the book "Think Like Jesus" tonight in Bible study I was bought back to a passage of the book"The Jesus I Never knew" by Philip Yancey section Showdown in the desert which the author says "Do we humans enjoy too much freedom? We have the freedom to harm and kill each other, to fight global wars, to despoil our planet. We are even free to defy God." So in an attempt to "Think Like Jesus" why didn't The Omnipotent and Omniscient GOD just use some irrefutable proof to silence all skeptics, tilting the odds in His favor?

Anytime u compare Jesus to a regular person there is automatically an unfair advantage. I'm not saying it was easy for Jesus to go threw what he went threw however I think he definitely had more of an advantage then i would have in a similar situation. I've always asked this question though, "is it really possible to think like God"? I personally believe that since we are not Gods among men nor are we perfect we can come very close to thinking like God but I don't think anyone will ever think 100% like Jesus. This would insinuate perfection which is something we strive for but in reality is unattainable. Only because God is perfect and we humans make mistakes.

I think those are very interesting views Mr. Middleton. My question is, what role does the Holy Spirit, or better yet what role should He play in our lives?
I believe often times we use the fact that we are humans to justify many of our poor decisions, which at times lead to sin. One of God's attributes is His holiness, which is the standard for living He has established for all. The problem is that we try to live up to the standard of holiness in our own strength and power...bad idea. With that approach, we will always fail. However, another attribute of God is His grace...this is what we will need in order to measure up to His standards...the word clearly states "my grace is sufficient for you". So back to your response, I agree, as you've said "we are not Gods among men" but I can think like Jesus...why do I say that? Because Jesus himself said it "let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus" and if you ever have any doubts just remember "His grace is sufficient"
